POWDERACK INSTALLATION AND USE INSTRUCTIONS
(TYPE 2) DEEP SNOW MACHINES WITH NO CARGO RACK
The Powderack Type 2 Rack is designed for Deep snow snowmobiles that do not have a cargo rack on the back of the sled. Two Type 2 Racks may be installed on each snowmobile. The frame is made from the highest quality aluminum and is welded for strength and durability in extreme conditions. The rollers are made from high quality synthetic rubber. The Powderack attaches to the snowmobile tunnel using bolts and L-brackets. Note: Some snowmobiles have obstructions such as small racks, which will need to be removed prior to installing the Powderack. Powderack assumes no liability for snowmobile damage due to modification by the user.
PARTS LIST
-
Powderack (assembled)
-
2-L-brackets
-
5- 5/16 x 1 inch hex bolts
-
5-Lock washers 5/16 inch diameter
-
5-Lock nuts 5/16 inch diameter
-
3-Fender washers 5/16 inch
INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS
NOTE: The Powderack should be mounted as far to the rear of the snowmobile as possible. DO NOT MOUNT POWDERACK IN A POSITION WHERE ANY RIDERS MAY GET THEIR LEG BETWEEN THE GEAR AND SNOWMOBILE.
The L-bracket should be flush with the edge of the snowmobile tunnel (See installation Photos).
CAUTION: Please check the underside of the snowmobile tunnel for obstructions prior to drilling holes. You must not drill into things such as: the cooling manifold or any hoses associated with it, the track, any springs or parts of the suspension etc. Powderack assumes no liability for snowmobile damage due to modification by the user.
-
The user has a helper hold the Powderack in the desired position on the snowmobile tunnel. (See Note above). The user then marks the 3-hole positions using a pencil. Two of the three holes to be drilled are marked on each of the L-brackets. The third hole to be drilled is marked in the mounting hole in the rack cross member. The cross member is then bolted to the side of the tunnel.
-
Once the hole positions have been marked, and the underside of the tunnel has been checked for obstructions, drill 3-5/16 inch holes in the marked positions.
-
Place the 5/16 x 1 inch hex bolts through the L-bracket holes and the freshly drilled holes in the snowmobile tunnel. If space is an issue inside the snowmobile tunnel, you can place the hex bolts through the holes from the inside. Just remember to use the Fender washers on the INSIDE of the tunnel.
-
Place the Fender washers, lock washers, and nuts on the ends of the bolts and tighten until the lock washers flatten, and the fit is tight. NOTE: Don?t over tighten the lock nuts as damage to the Powderack or snowmobile may occur. With time the lock nuts may loosen so please monitor lock nut tightness periodically.

POWDERACK USE
Snowboards and skis (gear) are placed tail end first between the rollers on both the front and back sections of the Powderack. The snowboards and skis should extend 4-8? beyond the Powderack rollers to keep them place. The snowboard/ski bindings should rest on the hard rubber roller. The curved tip of the snowboard or skis must point TOWARD the snowmobile as shown in Photo 5. NOTE: Carrying ski/snowboard gear on a snowmobile can change the center of gravity making it easier to tip over. Please go slowly around corners, and remember to lean to the inside of the turn. It is recommended to Bungee the snowboard or skis in place as shown in photo 4. DO NOT MOUNT POWDERACK IN A POSITION WHERE ANY RIDERS MAY GET THEIR LEG BETWEEN THE GEAR AND SNOWMOBILE.
NOTE: Powderack assumes no liability for personal injury or gear loss/damage during use including snowmobile roll overs and crashes. Gear should be removed from the Powderack when not in use to prevent roller damage. Gear should not be carried on the Powderack at night due to possible tail light obstruction. DO NOT ATTEMPT TO LIFT YOUR SNOWMOBILE WHILE HOLDING ONTO THE POWDERACK.
Maintenance: Lubricate aluminum rods where they enter the Powderack frame with WD-40 twice yearly or as needed. Monitor locknuts for loosening, and tighten as needed per above instructions.
Warranty:
Frame: Workmanship and defective materials for 1 year from date of purchase (proof of purchase is required).
Rollers: No warranty for the roller portion of Powderack. Rollers are made of U.V. resistant material, but should be protected from sunlight when not in use to prevent breakdown. Rollers that have become cracked, torn, or hardened, must be replaced to ensure proper functioning. Replacement parts are available for purchase from Powderack.
