POWDERACK INSTALLATION AND USE INSTRUCTIONS (TYPE 1)
SKI DOO OR ARTIC CAT WIDETRACK
NO HOLES TO DRILL IN YOUR SLED!

The Powderack Type 1 Rack is designed for Wide track snowmobiles that have a cargo rack on the back of the sled.   The Powderack attaches to the rack by using a u-bolt system.  Note:  Some snowmobiles have oversized taillights which will need to be removed prior to installing the Powderack.  Powderack has taillights that can be purchased and attached to the Powderack in this situation.  Powderack assumes no liability for snowmobile damage due to modification by the user.

PARTS LIST

  1. Powderack (assembled)
  2. 2-U-bolts 5/16 x 1 ¾ x 2 inches
  3. 2-U-bolts 5/16 x 1 ¾ x 3 inches
  4. 8-Lock washers 5/16 inch diameter
  5. 8-Lock nuts 5/16 inch diameter
  6. 2-U-bolt straps
  7. 4-5/16 x 1 inch coupling nuts

INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS

NOTE: Please read all instructions BEFORE starting Powderack assembly.

  1. The user has a helper hold the Powderack in the desired position on the snowmobile cargo rack.  The bottom u-bolts (5/16 x 1 3/4 x 3 inch) go around the bottom bar of the snowmobile cargo rack.  The U-bolt strap is then placed on the U-bolt so that the snowmobile cargo rack bar is between U-bolt and the U-bolt strap.
  2. Place some WD-40 or 3-in-1 oil on the U-bolt threads.  The 5/16 x 1 inch coupling nuts are then threaded onto the U-bolt and tightened with an open-ended box wrench past where the threads end.  Continue to tighten the coupling nut until the U-bolt strap is snug but not tight against the snowmobile cargo rack bar (this will take some effort). Always tighten the coupling nuts evenly on both sides.  The U-bolt ends are then placed through the bottom mounting holes on the Powderack. The lock washers and nuts are then placed on the ends of the U-bolts and are tightened finger tight.
  3. Place the top U-bolt around the top bar of the snowmobile cargo rack and through the top mounting holes on the Powderack.  Place the lock washers and locknuts on the U-bolt ends.  Tighten the locknuts until the lock washers flatten and the fit is snug.
  4. The coupling nuts are then tightened until snug and the Powderack does not move.  NOTE:  Tighten the locknuts until the lock washer flattens and the fit is snug.  Always tighten locknuts evenly on both sides, do not over tighten or you will bend the aluminum frame.  With time the locknuts may loosen so please monitor locknut tightness periodically.

POWDERACK USE

Snowboards and skis (gear) are placed tail end down between the rollers on both the top and bottom sections of the Powderack.  The snowboard/ski bindings should rest on the hard rubber roller. The snowboards and skis should extend 4-8” below the Powderack rollers to keep them place.  NOTE: Carrying ski/snowboard gear on a snowmobile can change the center of gravity making it easier to tip over.  Please go slowly around corners, and remember to lean to the inside of the turn.  It is recommended to Bungee the snowboard or skis in place as shown in photo 4.

NOTE:   Powderack assumes no liability for personal injury or gear loss/damage during use including snowmobile rollovers. Gear should be removed from the Powderack when not in use to prevent roller damage. Gear should not be carried on the Powderack at night due to possible taillight obstruction. DO NOT ATTEMPT TO LIFT YOUR SNOWMOBILE WHILE HOLDING ONTO THE POWDERACK.

Maintenance:  Lubricate aluminum rods where they enter the Powderack frame with WD-40 twice yearly or as needed.  Monitor locknuts for loosening, and tighten as needed per above instructions.

Warrantee:

Frame:  Workmanship and defective materials for 1 year from date of purchase (proof of purchase is required).

Rollers:  No warrantee for the roller portion of Powderack.  Rollers are made of U.V. resistant material, but should be protected from sunlight when not in use to prevent breakdown.  Rollers that have become cracked, torn, or hardened, must be replaced to ensure proper functioning.  Replacement parts are available for purchase from Powderack.
